Advertising service · Vehicles sold by independent dealers

About

An honest rail for an opaque market.

BudgetWheels.ca is built on one idea: the legal structure of what we are should also be the marketing.

Who we are

BudgetWheels.ca is a British Columbia-based vehicle advertising service for independent registered motor dealers. We’re an advertising rail — not a dealer, broker, agent, or middleman in any vehicle sale. Phase 0 is BC-only. Future provinces will launch only with written legal opinion in hand.

The transparency thesis

The Canadian online auto market is built on opacity. Dealer pricing on AutoTrader, Kijiji Autos, and CarGurus is gated behind sales calls. Listing fees vary by relationship. The platforms position themselves as neutral, but the path from listing fee to inventory placement is invisible.

We think the opposite move is the durable one. Publish the price. Publish the disclosure. Make the dealer-of-record visible on every ad. Let buyers see the Canadian Black Book market-value anchor next to the dealer’s asking price. Don’t take a commission. Don’t pretend to be the seller. The structural facts — flat pricing, no commission, dealer-of-record on every listing, third-party value anchor — become the brand.

How we work with dealers

Dealers send vehicle listings through WhatsApp or web. An AI normalization layer structures the data against a strict schema, validates the VIN, and routes anything missing required fields to a human review queue. Listings publish only after a dealer has confirmed identity and licence number. The dealer’s VSA licence number, stock number, VIN and all-in price appear on every ad, verbatim from the dealer’s submission.

We don’t take a commission on the vehicle sale, don’t broker financing, don’t take deposits, and don’t accept lead-routing fees from third-party finance providers. The dealer’s contact information appears on every listing; buyer enquiries go to the dealer directly.

This positioning is load-bearing. It shapes our Terms of Use, our dealer agreement, our handling of buyer enquiries, and our refusal to take any payment that touches the vehicle sale itself. We require all dealers to keep dealer number, stock number, VIN, and all-in price verbatim on every listing in compliance with BC Motor Dealer Act Regulation s. 18–19 disclosure rules.

Working with Canadian Black Book

Buyers should be able to see a third-party fairness anchor next to every asking price. We’re building Canadian Black Book market-value badges into the listing surface so buyers don’t have to leave the page to sanity-check a price. Available on Pro and Lot tiers at launch.

Trust & Safety

  • VIN check-digit validation (ISO 3779) on every listing.
  • Strict-mode JSON schema with mandatory dealer number, stock number, all-in price.
  • Human review queue for any listing missing a required field or any AI-flagged inconsistency.
  • Consumer takedown obligations — we honour them on the first credible complaint.

Privacy & communications

We comply with BC PIPA and PIPEDA. Buyer enquiries are routed to the named dealer with explicit consent. We do not sell or share buyer data with third-party advertisers, marketing networks, or finance lead aggregators. CASL: all dealer communications carry identification, an unsubscribe link, and rely on express consent collected at signup. Full Privacy and Terms documents are forthcoming.
